Newsupdate May - Latvia and Belgium

Dear friends

Greetings from Manchester, England.

You represent someone great!

Alexander the Great, one of the greatest military generals who ever lived, conquered almost the entire know world with his vast army.  One night during a campaign, he couldn’t sleep and left his tent to walk around the campgrounds.  As he was walking he came across a soldier asleep on guard duty – a serious offense.  The penalty for falling asleep on guard duty was, in some cases, instant death; the commanding officer sometimes poured kerosene on the sleeping soldier and lit it.

The soldier began to wake up as Alexander the Great approached him.  Recognizing who was standing in front of him, the young man feared for his life.

“Do you know what the penalty is for falling asleep on guard duty?”  Alexander the Great asked the soldier.  “Yes sir,” the soldier responded in a quivering voice.  “Soldier, what’s your name?”  demanded Alexander the Great.  “Alexander, sir.”  Alexander the Great repeated the question: “What is your name?”  “My name is Alexander, sir,”  the soldier repeated.  A third time and more loudly Alexander the Great asked, “What us your name?”  A third time the soldier meekly said, “My name is Alexander, sir.”  Alexander the Great then looked the young soldier straight in the eye.

“Soldier,” he said with intensity, “either change your name or change your conduct.”

We who carry the name of Christ and call ourselves Christian must live up to the name.  We are ambassadors for Christ, reconciling the world with God.  Let’s represent Him!  To represent means to give a new introduction.  Let’s introduce God by the way we live our lives with an attitude that matches his greatness.

For the last 3 weeks we have been in Europe experiencing a great time of ministry with an outpouring of God’s power, changing and transforming lives.  We started our trip in Latvia, it was so great to see the hunger of God’s people there.  We ministered in Vinspiels and Riga.  We did a training seminar on the supernatural.  We were so blessed to see the response of the people and the faithfulness of God.  As we prayed for the sick, many testified of being healed by the power of God.  The leaders in both cities were very encouraged and refreshed.  We enjoyed our time with the family of pastor Maris, our good friends and we enjoyed meeting pastor Vilnis.

From Latvia we went to Belgium where God did something amazing at ‘The Next Level’ conference.  Many said that this was a breakthrough moment for the church in this region as God used the conference to heal previous wounds in the Body of Christ.  It was an incredible demonstration of what can happen when we lay aside our differences and when we stop competing with one another and choose to elevate the name of God.  More than 14 churches joined and participated in the conference.  Different churches did different things in the preparation efforts.  Even the worship was led by 4 teams from different churches.  The meetings were opened by different church leaders.  I did all the preaching and Ilke translated me in all the services.  The conference was charged with an atmosphere of freedom and joy.  The ministry of the Word was powerful.  One Saturday night we took testimonies of different people that were healed.  Sunday was celebration service, all the 14 churches and more canceled their Sunday morning services to join together.  At the end of the meeting all the pastors came on the platform and joined hands, singing: ’Father make us one, so that the world may know that you send your Son.’  At this point we received numerous testimonies of different church leaders, pastors of how this conference impacted their lives.  We love the Flemish people and are so encouraged to see God bless them in such way.

We want to thank all the teams that worked hard to make this event such a success for His glory.

The next 4 weeks we will continue to travel and reach people in Europe.  Please keep us in your prayers.

Love and blessings

Guy & Ilke
